WHAT WE DO

Kernon Countryside Consultants specialise in agricultural, equine and rural planning consultancy. This involves advice, assessments and appraisals, in some cases planning applications or input to planning applications (working with town planning consultants), appeals and expert witness work. We also carry out inputs to environmental assessments, and research work related to the rural economy.

We work widely across England and Wales, acting for many local authorities as well as landowners. We strive to provide expert, reliable and effective advice and services in a timely and cost-effective manner.

Agricultural Development: Appraisals and assessments for agricultural and horticultural buildings and dwellings, covering most enterprises, occupancy conditions, tracks, permitted development and related development issues.

Equine Development: Planning assessments and applications for stables, sand schools, changes of use of buildings and land, dwellings, gallops, racing yards, studs and recreational ventures.

Rural Diversification: Changes of use of land and buildings, farm shops and processing, offices and workshops, liveries, tourist lodges and activities, paintball, swimming pools, applications and appeals.

Development of Land: Land quality assessments, the effects on farm and rural businesses, input to planning application and Environmental Assessments, policy implications of non-agricultural development.

Expert Witness Work: Written evidence for appeals, written and expert opinion evidence for informal hearings, public inquiries and arbitrations.
